Gary Clark, Jr. : Live
I didn’t love Gary Clark Jr’s studio records. They are good, but, the production on the first release just didn’t bring me back after the first couple listens. The Story of Sonny Boy Slim is much more interesting for me, but, this live record is an entirely different experience. The recording quality varies from good to great, and there isn’t a song I want to skip throughout all four sides. Overall, this collection highlights his guitar work and unadorned vocals. Simple.
The band is great – deep grooves and high energy throughout.
Highlights: Numb, Please Come Home, Third Stone From The Sun / If You Love Me Like You Say,Catfish Blues, When the Sun Comes Down
